The MediaFACE 4.0 Label Design Program is implemented as a Multiple Document Interface application. It allows opening multiple labels within a project. Each label has one or more versions that can be subject to user modification. A label version is opened in its own window. In order to navigate between labels and versions, you can use the Workspace Navigator function, which is represented by the tree. The first level of the tree represents open projects, which contains subfolders and/or labels. Each label has a default version. The Workspace Navigator bar is usually located in the left section of the main window.
A set of toolbars is included for easy access to commands and using available tools. These toolbars are initially located on top of the main window and contain the most commonly used commands. You can show/hide toolbars on the screen by selecting them from the main menu. You can also select commands from the main menu in order to initiate corresponding dialogs. In addition to the Standard toolbar which has general commands (New, Open, Print, etc.), there are toolbars, which contain interactive tools intended for creating and modifying objects.
The drawing tools allow you to design a variety of objects, which can be then modified using the shaping tool. Some of these tools are presented as shortcuts to menu commands; others consist of commands that are available as toolbar buttons. There is also the option of customizing the content of the toolbars. A set of palettes that serves to modify various parameters of the drawing objects is also included.
Palettes appear stacked together in groups by default. The positions of all open palettes and moveable dialog boxes are saved when you exit the application. A palette contains the same type of controls as a dialog box, such as command buttons, options, and list boxes. However, unlike most dialog boxes, you can keep palette windows open while working on a label so as to either access the operations you use most frequently or to experiment with different effects.
The palette windows can be docked to any edge of the Application window, you can also choose to undock them. Furthermore, you can minimize the palette windows in order to conserve screen space. The layering feature of Label Design Program provides added flexibility by enabling organization and editing of objects contained in a label. It is possible to separate a label into multiple layers, each containing a portion of the label's contents, and organize the design of various components (images, shapes, etc.) by placing them on separate layers. The Layer Manager can be used to view, print, or edit specific layers or combinations of layers. When combined, the layers act as a hierarchy that helps determine the vertical arrangement of drawing's components. In this arrangement (the stacking order), objects located on the top layer always overlay objects, which are located on the layer below it.
